Having produced house portraits for a number of years now, I may well be biased, but these highly detailed paintings make a great gift for a variety of occasions, especially for those really hard to buy for friends and relatives who you may think already have everything! But as the saying goes, an Englishman’s home is his castle, so the majority of the portraits I do are for the homeowner themselves, and when our homes mean so much to us, why wouldn’t you?
The portraits can also be used as an interesting and unusual means of charting the before and after a journey of renovations, particularly barn conversions for example.
Not Just Houses
In 2020 I introduced door portraiture to my range. Doors can equally say so much about a house and its occupants. They make an interesting talking point once framed and hung on the wall. You can see more information on the Door Portraits page.
On the following pages, you will find further details and information for commissioning a house or door portrait. I am also able to provide vouchers that make ideal last-minute gifts.
Commissions
Under commission, I have created home or building portraiture for birthdays, weddings/wedding anniversaries, Christmas, surprise house warming gifts, an extra special leaving home gift, and even a house portrait which was later printed into greetings cards.
I also welcome commissions for other types of favourite buildings, such as wedding venues or even childhood homes which now only exist in fuzzy old black and white photographs. These can be a challenge, but working closely with the customer I can hopefully re-create this much loved and missed home. More of my commissioned paintings, including work in progress photos, can be seen on my Instagram page @db_house_portraits
